There Are Millions of Deaths Per Year Caused by Drivers Who Are Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs.

Think about it. You are sitting there at night, waiting for your son or daughter to come home from work, school, or a football game. You get a phone call. It is a police officer, telling you that there has been an accident, and your child has been killed. You find out that alcohol has been the culprit; the driver of the car that killed your child was drinking that night, and got behind the wheel in an impaired condition. What would your reaction be??

This happens every 15 seconds of the day. A young person gets behind the wheel of a car and either kills somebody or gets killed himself or herself. A family is torn apart. Friends are devastated. Those left behind are wondering why.

It has been proposed that there be mandatory sentences for murdering anyone during a DUI, of 20 years to life, but is this even stiff enough? When they get out, what will they do? Have they learned anything?
